This is the first drawing that I did for 2bdrawing.com. I love to take photos and became a member of daily awards where I came across the photo that I used for this drawing. If you visit dailyawards.com you will be able to find it if you do a photographers search. The photographer, Paul Huang, has given me permission to place my drawing of his work on my site.

This drawing is done with a variety of drawing pencils. I used soft pencils for the hair and harder ones for the face and the shading.

Drawing Hair

In order to draw hair that looks quite realistic you need to work in multiple layers. Work your pencil towards highlights. You will have to do a lot of shading and erasing. Once you have achieved a certain texture and the lighting is right, go over you hair again with a lighter pencil. Then finish it with a darker pencil. Play around with it a little. It does not have to be perfect!
