This pastel drawing of a starry night, rendered using the unique style of famous artist, Vincent Van Gogh, was drawn by Brittany. This drawing is the result of an art class, in which we had a look at several famous drawings and paintings by Van Gogh. Students were required to use the rough short lines which are present in most of his landscapes and portraits. In this way they were able to create art similar to that of Van Gogh.
Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch post-Impressionist painter whose work is still loved by many today. The rough style he choose to use for most of his artwork reflects the rough life he had as an artist. During his lifetime his work was hardly recognized. Not until years after his death did his work start to gain popularity. During the early years of his life, van Gogh spent a lot of time drawing. It was not until he was in his late twenties that he began painting. Although he has many sketches, he is most well known for the paintings which he did during the last years of his life.
R. Feenstra2011-04-28 21:11:15 You can easily tell that you used a technique similar to that of Vincent van Gogh. You used similar colours as van Gogh did in his famous painting, "Starry Night" and were able to create a similar mood. Excellent work! |
